Blood Done Sign My Name is Jeb Stuart’s epic civil rights drama adapted from the acclaimed book of the same name by prize-winning author and African- American studies scholar Timothy Tyson. The film takes place in the 1970’s in Oxford, NC and explores the racial upheaval—and ensuing social change—provoked by the acquittal of a white father and son accused of murdering a black man in cold blood and in full public view.
Recounts the aftermath of the murder of Henry Marrow, a 23 year-old African American Vietnam veteran who was killed by a prominent white businessman and his grown sons in Oxford, North Carolina. Responding to the crime and the sham trial that followed, many young African American men take to the streets, engaging in riots and vandalism. However, Marrow's cousin, Benjamin Chavis, decides that the best way to protest the government's unwillingness to intercede is to organize a peaceful march on the state Capitol. What begins as a small group of Marrow's outraged friends and relatives soon grows to become a crowd of thousands over a three-day, fifty-mile trek to Raleigh. Ten years old at the time, Timothy Tyson watched as his father, pastor of the all-white Methodist church, tried in vain to get his congregation to reconcile with their African American neighbors. It was already too late; the black citizens of this small Southern town had decided to take matters into their own hands.

Ce este dureros, este ca o parte din membrii congragatiei pe care Vernon Tyson o conduce se impotriveste luptei lui impotriva rasismului, iar cei care au comis crima erau si in comitetul bisericii. Este un film bun, care vorbeste despre o traire pe care noi trebuie s-o avem ca crestini, iar mai presus de asta este dupa un caz real. Nu judecati filmul dupa aparente, vizionati-l si o sa fiti surprinsi de ceea ce o sa vedeti...

"What am I doing here?" It is a question that has haunted Jason (Josh Odor) ever since he heard his dad utter it, prior to his death several years ago. Now, fresh out of law school and with an upcoming bar exam to prepare for, the highly motivated and strictly disciplined Jason returns to the small Southern town he grew up in to spend the summer studying.
He reconnects with Paul (Craig Luttrell), a "shoulda been" actor who has just returned from Los Angeles, and Layla (Jaclyn Friedlander), an old friend whose childhood crush on Jason returns with his sudden reemergence, sending her engagement into a tailspin. But it is a chance-encounter with David (Craig Morris) - the pastor at a local church - that changes his life forever.
David offers Jason a part time summer job as a youth director and he reluctantly accepts it - caving into pressure from Layla and the need for some extra summer cash. The winner of the 2009 Door Post Film Festival is a beautiful period film by Joshua Weigel about hope and perseverance. A side show attraction with no arms and legs learns his worth.
At the height of the Great Depression, the showman of a renowned circus leads his troupe through the devastated American landscape, lifting the spirits of audiences along the way. During their travels they discover a man without limbs at a carnival sideshow. However, after an intriguing encounter with the showman he becomes driven to hope against everything he has ever believed.
Butterfly Circus may be one of the most beautiful films, in spirit and concept, that you may ever see. Themes of the ImageBearer, the Hope that lives when One calls us by our true name, and our definition of “weakness” and “handicap” all rise to the surface in this artful piece.
The acting is good, but its clear that full on professional actors were not engaged for this short film. Let the richness of the story embrace you, and call you to be like the Master of the Butterfly Circus.

The Path of The Wind [2009]

THE PATH OF THE WIND is an emotive, intriguing, well-produced, evangelistic movie. Lee gets released after 10-years in prison for beating a man to death, and returns to his small hometown. He has inherited his grandfather’s wealth, but he goes to work at the grocery store anyway to get his life in order.
In the grocery store parking lot, he sees a woman being attacked and goes to her rescue, mercilessly beating the man. The woman, Katie, takes an interest in him. He is interested in her as well, but she is a dedicated Christian and committed to abstinence. He finds out that she was previously a stripper who accepted Christ two years before.
Meanwhile, a 21-year old girl at the supermarket tries to seduce him, so that she can blackmail him and get his money. Another young man at the market, Eric, is angry with Lee because Lee took his job. Furthermore, he is being followed by someone.
There is a lot of powerful drama in THE PATH OF THE WIND, with some heartrending moments and some strong evangelistic statements. At the same time, there are some characters that are anti-Christian and make derogatory statements about Christians.
The direction of this low budget movie is very good, and the music highlights the emotions of the movie. Regrettably, some of the dialog is static, and the casting could have been better. Most noticeable, is the disparity of accents in this small mid-western town.
That being said, THE PATH OF THE WIND brings tears to the audience’s eyes and is one of the better, small, independent Christian movies made recently.
